INTERNSHIP - Communications Department New York City

Reports to: Director of Communications
Objective: Assistant department staff in implementation of strategic communications and marketing efforts. Provide editorial assistance and administrative support for print and electronic materials, public relations, social networking development and marketing efforts.
Responsibilities:
A) Communications and branding
Assist in production and maintenance of social networking sites.
Provide editorial assistance for web site content and Respect newsletter.
Provide editorial assistance for electronic communications.
Research and help compile editorial style guide.
Process vendor invoices and assist in departmental budget tracking.
B) Public relations
Track and compile media coverage of GLSEN and related issues and prepare program reports.
Help in analysis and audit of GLSEN’s yearly media coverage.
Assist in media outreach.
C) Marketing and outreach
Support communications team in delivering marketing and outreach support to program areas.
Provide administrative support to department director in development of marketing plans.
Assist in implementation of new public service announcement campaign.
D) Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communications skills
- Ability to establish and work within timelines
- Ability to multi-task and work as a member of a diverse, high-energy team.
