GLSEN Announces First-Ever Respect Awards Gala

GLSEN is pleased to announce its first-ever Respect Awards, where we will have the opportunity to recognize and honor some of the leaders who have helped move GLSEN’s work forward over the last 10 years. This important benefit dinner will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at the beautiful new Mandarin Oriental Hotel, New York City.

The 2004 Respect Awards honorees will include: Andrew Tobias, author and Treasurer of the Democratic National Committee for his long-time support of GLSEN; MTV Music Television for their commitment to educating young people about the damaging effects of homophobia; and Marina Gatto, a sophomore at Mercy High School in Burlingame, CA, a nationally recognized student activist, and daughter of lesbian moms.

We hope you will join us to help recognize the 2004 honorees and to raise funds for the important work of GLSEN. There are a number of ways that you can participate in the benefit:

You can become a Sponsor of the event. Sponsors will receive a prime table of ten and recognition on the invitation and in the program book. You can become a member of the Benefit Committee. As a member of the Benefit Committee you lend your name to the event for use on the invitation and in the program book. To further support the event, we hope that you purchase your own ticket(s), and if possible, organize a full table, which you may choose to do through your company. In addition, we ask that you send invitations to your friends and colleagues to give them the opportunity to support GLSEN.
