GLSEN Announces Honorees for 2005 Respect Awards - New York Gala, Celebrating our Tenth Anniversary

Jan 28, 2005
GLSEN is pleased to announce our Second Annual Respect Awards – New York Gala, where we will have the opportunity to recognize and honor some of the leaders who have helped move GLSEN’s work forward. This important benefit dinner will take place on Monday, May 16, 2005 at the beautiful Mandarin Oriental Hotel, New York City. This year's awards will be hosted by Christopher Meloni of HBO's Oz and NBC's Law and Order: SVU.

The 2005 Respect Awards – New York honorees will include: The Honorable Richard Gephardt, former Majority Leader of the U.S. House of Representatives and past candidate for President of the United States, and his daughter Chrissy Gephardt, for their intergenerational support of safe schools for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students; Lehman Brothers, for their
tireless corporate leadership in the movement towards LGBT leadership and equality; and Talia Stein, a senior at Stevenson High School in Buffalo Grove, IL, who took on her school’s administration and won the right to establish a Gay-Straight Alliance on campus.

We hope you will join us to help recognize the 2005 honorees and to raise funds for the important work of GLSEN. There are a number of ways that you can participate in the benefit:
