Overview of the Rights of Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Teachers

Mary Bonauto
Jan 01, 1999

An essay addressing the major legal principles governing the employment of GLBT teachers in public and private school, based on examination of federal and state statues as well as labor union policies. This essay does not provide a comprehensive analysis of each state's law, nor does it in any way substitute for a particularized assessment of an actual problem by an attorney familiar with the governing local laws. Do not rely on this article as specific legal advice because the law constantly changes and is different in different places.
