Safe Schools Advocacy Summit - 2010

Jan 13, 2010
The Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) is pleased to announce the Safe Schools Advocacy Summit (SSAS) to be held from March 20-23, 2010 in Washington D.C.

The Safe Schools Advocacy Summit brings together high school students and adult activists for an action-packed four days of learning and advocacy. Through a series of workshops and discussions participants will develop an understanding of the legislative process and ways to influence it, as well as acquire tools and skills for effective school- and community-based organizing.

On the final day summit participants will go right to source and put their training to action when they will meet with their legislators to discuss policies and legislation that will help protect all students from bullying and harassment.

Costs of the Safe Schools Advocacy Summit, including transportation, lodging and meals, will be paid for by GLSEN.

We will consider the applicant's geographic locations related to GLSEN’s policy priorities, background in safe schools organizing, history of community involvement, their dedication to social justice, and other factors when selecting participants for SSAS.
