are getting ready to close, while others are rapidly
shuffling through a number of bills before the end
of the legislative season. Overall, this year has
seen remarkable gains for LGBT students, considering

Creative Expression Contest Winners |
|
GLSEN is pleased to announce that the judging process
for the 2011 Creative Expression Contest is complete
and the winners have been selected. This year's
contest brought in many amazing and creative entries
including drawings, paintings, poems, stories, songs,
videos, sculptures and much, much more. We continue
to be touched by the wisdom and commitment demonstrated
by students to ending name-calling and bullying
in schools. We want to thank all of the students who
thought critically about the effects of bullying and
demonstrated great determination to assist in putting
an end to name-calling and bullying in their schools. |

Advise the U.S.
Department of Education about Educational Needs in Your
Region |
|
The
Secretary of Education has appointed ten Regional
Advisory Committees (RACs) to advise the U.S. Department
of Education about the educational needs in each of
the ten geographic regions. Each RAC will conduct
an educational needs assessment and submit a report
to the Secretary, who will take the regional assessments
into account in establishing priorities for the comprehensive
technical assistance centers. In conducting its assessment
of regional educational needs, each RAC is seeking
input from people within the region. Here is
your chance to make a difference in education policy. |
