GLSEN has undertaken an intensive strategic planning process that will set us up to focus on several strategic imperatives for the next 3 – 5 years. Through out this process, we asked over 1,000 GLSEN members, leaders and supporters what they think about our work. Based on the feedback of many voices, the national board has created three strategic imperatives with corresponding campaigns that will set GLSEN on track to more effectively carry out its mission by guiding our work and resources for the next three to five years.
Now, we are moving on to the critical stage of planning for campaign implementation. We continue to want you to be a part of this important process! Your local chapter work is vital to the success of the safe schools movement. GLSEN is inviting representatives from all chapters to this first-ever organizational dialogue on how we can effectively carry out these strategic campaigns together. Based on the campaigns to be discussed, we hope to create a shared vision of what chapters need to be successful.
This important Summit will replace the Leadership Training Institute this summer. The Leadership Training Institute will continue next summer.

Who Should Participate?
·Maximum of two board members per chapter on a first come basis. (Waiting list will be on a first come basis. If you have two board members registered for the Summit, you may put up to two more names on the waiting list.)
·One of the two board members attending must have a minimum of one year of GLSEN chapter board experience. If only one board member attends from your chapter, that person needs to meet the minimum chapter experience requirement. We strongly encourage any chapters with youth board members to send those board members.
·Chapter board members in attendance must come with the full support of their board and knowledge of future chapter priorities. Participants will be expected to meet with their full chapter board at least one time prior to the Summit. GLSEN will provide an information packet to each registrant that will lie out the campaigns to be discussed at the Summit. Each chapter sending a representative will need to evaluate which of the strategic campaigns you would choose to participate in over the next several years, what questions you have about those campaigns, and what kind of support you would need from GLSEN to carry out that campaign locally. All of the strategic campaigns will lie within our public policy platform and might encompass work your chapter is already doing locally.
·All Leadership Training Institute graduates are welcome to attend.
