GLSEN Corporate Profile: IBM

For more than a decade, IBM has supported the life-changing work of GLSEN, and our mission to end bullying and harassment in our nation's schools. In fact, IBM was honored by GLSEN in 2005 with a Corporate Respect Award. Today, IBM is a National Corporate Partner at the gold level and continues to set the standard when it comes to embracing diversity.

According to Barbara Frankel, Executive Editor of DiversityInc, "IBM is a company that embodies values, and no one does that better globally than this corporate giant. Its mentoring and training program, as well as its employee groups, increasingly reach across all borders to ensure inclusivity and the ability to reach and connect with all employees, clients and communities."

IBM currently ranks No. 4 in The DiversityInc Top 10 Companies for LGBT Employees, and No. 10 in The DiversityInc Top 50 Companies. IBM has also just earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index for the seventh year in a row.

"Global work-force diversity is a cornerstone of IBM's strategy to differentiate itself as one of the world's great companies, and that's especially important during challenging economic times," said Ron Glover, Vice President, IBM's Diversity and Work Force Programs. "An inclusive workplace makes for a creative environment; IBM believes this and will continue to promote global work-force diversity regardless of the economic climate."

Tony Tenicela, IBM's Global Business Development Executive responsible for leveraging IBM's global Diversity best practices to create new business opportunities, currently serves as co-chair of GLSEN's Board of Directors.

With nearly 400,000 people worldwide, and annual revenues of more than $100 billion, companies like IBM are helping pave the way so that one day young people will no longer have to live in fear of bullying and harassment.
