GLSEN in the Windy CityOn February 24, 2010, GLSEN headed to the Windy City for a special event at Minibar on Halstead. More than 75 people came together to learn more about GLSEN and our life-changing work.
The evening was co-hosted by National Leadership Council member Steve Salee and friend of GLSEN, Jeremy Weinstein, and honored the important work of our local partner, the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance (ISSA). Joining the GLSEN family was ISSA's Executive Director and long-time GLSEN friend, Shannon Sullivan, who accepted the award from GLSEN Executive Director Eliza Byard, which included a grant from GLSEN. During her remarks, Sullivan acknowledged that that the GLSEN/ISSA relationship was an exemplary model of how a national organization and local organization could form effective partnerships. The event was a huge success for GLSEN and will ensure our joint work with our partner organization will continue to thrive. |
