Told narratively as diary entries, the film follows 13-year-old Trevor. When he confesses a crush on a popular boy at school, word spreads that Trevor is gay. He is consequently ostracized and, when attempts to reverse his apparent homosexuality fail, he ultimately attempts suicide. When Trevor awakes in the hospital, he meets a young candy-striper with a supportive demeanor, who inspires Trevor to live. The film inspired the Trevor Project, which promotes support for LGBT youth, and assists in suicide prevention through its national 24-hour hotline. Running time: 23 minutes. Film by Peggy Rajski and presented by Ellen Degeneres.
