Voices Illuminated: A Community Art Project

Each day we choose to illuminate the world with kindness. Help GLSEN's Jump-Start student leadership team #CelebrateKindness and light up Middle Tennessee to kick-off No Name-Calling Week 2016 by lending your voice to this community art project. All local youth and allies are invited. No prior artistic experience is required--there is no right or wrong way; only art led by the heart.

 

Call Me? (No-Name Calling Week Celebration)

January 23rd at 6:30 at the Icon in the Gulch

Celebrate No Name-Calling Week by joining us for an evening all about the power of WORDS and how we use them to create a more vibrant and positive community conversation. 

 

Youth Advocacy Workshop 

January or February on a Tuesday night TBD

Workshop for youth on political advocacy. Lead up to Advancing Equality Day and Children’s Advocacy Days on the Hill

 

Community Workshop: Creating Safe Spaces for LGBTQ Youth

February 3rd at 6:00pm at TBD location

In recognition of National School Counseling Week, GLSEN Middle Tennessee will partner with AIG Diversity Group to conduct a community training on helping to create safe and affirming spaces for LGBTQ youth in the community (tbd).

 

NSCW Cocktail Party Fundraiser

February 6th at 6:00pm at TBD location

Conclude School Counseling Week by sippin’ for safe schools with GLSEN leaders, LGBT advocates, educators. Complimentary drinks are provided for school counselors!

 

Tennessee Conference on Service Learning and Volunteerism

Advancing Equality Day & Children’s Advocacy Days

March 8th & 9th at 8:30am to 3:00pm (both days) at Legislative Plaza

TEP’s Advancing Equality Day (AED) and the TN Commission on Children & Youth’s Children’s Advocacy Day (CAD) are on the 8th and 9th. 

 

LGBT in the South Conference

March 18-20 in Asheville, NC

Chapter and youth leaders will attend the LGBT in the South convening.

 

Dining Out For Life

April 19th at 6:00pm at TBD

GLSEN will host a Dining Out for Life venue to support NashvilleCares.

 

Day of Silence Event TBD

April 15th & 16th

Usually consists of a panel on identity/ expression on the same day as the Music City Sisters’ youth prom.


Big Payback Countdown Event

May 3rd at 6:00pm at TBD

GLSEN will host a dinner/ cocktail event to rally friends and supporters together on the day of the Big Payback Event, a regional online fundraiser.

 

GLSEN National Training-of-Trainers
May 5th - 8th at TBD

Local chapter leaders will host national staff and other chapters leaders for a training-of-trainers in Nashville.
