February 4, 2016

This is a call to action as we now know that HB 663 and HB 781 will be heard in subcommittee Thursday February 4th.  It’s critical that as many of us as possible be present because, unfortunately, our opposition will be there in full force. These explicitly anti-trans bills would harm students across Virginia, and we need your help to convince the subcommittee that this is unacceptable. Legislators have received our calls, read our emails, and now – they need to hear our voice, in person February.

If at all possible, please join us at the General Assembly Thursday afternoon. Subcommittee Number Four is meeting in House Room C (upon adjournment of General Laws committee). While it’s impossible to know the exact time the subcommittee will start, we anticipate that the meeting will begin around 2:30pm and could last until 6:00pm.

You can choose to testify (15-30 seconds) or simply stand in solidarity. Please let Virginia Lamneck ( know as soon as possible if you’ll be able to attend so that EV can get a headcount and be on the lookout for you.

Library of Virginia and General Assembly

Join us for Equality Virginia's Day of Action as we lobby against House Bills 663, 781, and 385.

HB 663 and HB 781 target transgender students who try to use bathrooms which correspond to their true gender identity.

HB 385 would prohibit school boards from adopting regulations that would include sexual orientation or gender identity/expression in their discrimination policies.

Go to to register and for more information.

If you cannot attend the Day of Action, please contact your state representatives to state your objections to these bills.
