In response to today’s executive order signed by President Trump allowing religious organizations to engage in partisan electoral activism, GLSEN’s Executive Director, Dr. Eliza Byard issued the following statement.
“It is un-American to make anyone’s basic rights subject to the personal discretion of others. It also goes against the rule of law and core principle of equal protection and would surely be challenged in the courts."
Today, students will take a stand not only against bullying and harassment, but also against discriminatory policies and practices that deny too many of them the basic freedom to be who they are.
The report shows how profoundly harmful and unnecessary policies that exclude transgender students from school facilities that match their gender can be.
