Partners in Respect: Kellogg Company

Kellogg Company is dedicated to enriching and delighting the world through foods and brands that matter. The company’s strategy is closely linked to its core values of integrity, accountability, passion, humility, simplicity and a focus on success, cultivating a company culture that thrives on creativity, collaboration and openness to new ideas. By harnessing and developing employees’ unique talents, Kellogg strives to create foods and brands as diverse as its consumers.

For the past four years, Kellogg’s Diversity & Inclusion report, Features, has sought to emphasize the work of Kellogg locations around the globe and highlight annual contributions from Kellogg Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).. Most recently, Features spotlighted Kellogg’s LGBT-focused ERG, K-Pride & Allies, for its efforts to help raise awareness about bullying. In addition to working with GLSEN, Kellogg Company, based in Michigan, also supports the Kalamazoo LGBT Resource Center in helping to improve the lives of LGBT people in the local community.

Kellogg believes that supporting GLSEN reinforces its focus on diversity. As a corporate partner for the past two years, the company has demonstrated that GLSEN’s mission of creating safe schools for all aligns with its own values of integrity and respect. In addition to providing financial support, Kellogg also hosted a GLSEN staff member at its Battle Creek headquarters to give a presentation called “Classmates Now, Colleagues Later,” a discussion of the connection between school climate and corporate culture. The talk was streamed live across Kellogg’s North American network.

Looking ahead, K-Pride & Allies plans to develop management curriculum and materials that highlight LGBT inclusive best practices in the workplace through casual conversations. The group also plans to further enhance its anti-bullying partnership to drive additional awareness at headquarters and beyond.
