How Digital Platforms Can Bring Us Together on GLSEN's Day of Silence
By Shannon Beveridge, Digital Creator
From my couch to yours, I just wanted to say hello, friend – and make sure that you were planning to participate in this Friday’s 25th Annual Day of Silence!
It’s the country’s largest student-led protest for LGBTQ visibility. And don’t think for a second that schools closing will stop GLSEN’s awesome student leaders across the country from making this the biggest Day of Silence yet!
Since I became a digital creator, I’ve always believed in the power of digital platforms to bring us together, share our stories as LGBTQ people and find our common humanity.
And now as our country grapples with the COVID–19 crisis, I know we can count on LGBTQ youth across the country to join together this Friday to show that online or offline – this movement for equality can’t be stopped.
I’m ready to take action on Friday to show that I support LGBTQ students! How about you, friend?
I’ll be following the #DayOfSilence hashtag all day on Friday. I hope to see how you’re taking action!
