GLSEN Greater Kansas City Educator Trainings

Nothing compares to working with your colleagues to address the issues going on in your school. With more than 20 years of experience, GLSEN can help you ensure that your school provides a safe and affirming learning environment for all students, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.

GLSEN Greater Kansas City Professional Development (PD) workshops help empower K-12 educators, school staff and pre-service teachers to improve school climate, support LGBT students, incorporate inclusive curriculum or implement a new anti-bullying or discrimination policy. All K-12 educators can benefit from attending GLSEN PD workshops regardless of role; because, all educators can be supportive allies and have positive impacts on school climate.

GLSEN Greater Kansas City chapter offers two professional development opportunities for educators, Be Aware which is a 1.5 hours presentation of information from the National School Climate Survey and Be An Ally which is a 3 hour facilitated workshop for current and future school personnel who are interested in increasing the number of adult allies in area schools. GLSEN Professional Development workshops are rooted in research-based training methods and adult learning principlesand are integral to comprehensive approaches to ensuring safe and inclusive schools.
