Training

Does your school staff need a training on anti-LGBT bias and harassment, LGBTQ competency, and ways to effectively intervene when you see or hear bullying take place?

GLSEN New York City offers 3 types of trainings:

  • Full Day Professional Development
  • Half Day Professional Development
  • Shorter speaking engagements on a specific topic (i.e. Safe Space Kit overview, panel discussion, etc.)

Full + Half Day Professional Development workshops are recognized by GLSEN's National Office and are meant for school-based personnel. They are taught only by trainers who are nationally certified by GLSEN. They follow a set series of activities, but can be customized slightly for the audience or type of environment. They involve a pre-training conference and post-training evaluation.

Shorter speaking engagements are typically for schools that have already had a GLSEN Professional Development or are looking to supplement a program or event. This may be a workshop during a professional development, a panel discussion led by our trainers, or an overview of LGBTQ affirming resources for your staff.
