Our Development team raises $7 million a year from diverse sources for the organization’s life-changing work.

We are seeking an experienced fundraising professional to fill the role of Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager to cultivate and steward partnerships with new and existing funders that will result in increased revenue for the organization. This person will be responsible for coordinating with the Development team on a portfolio that includes large corporate partners and traditional foundations, leading LGBTQ movement funders, and family foundations. They will also collaborate with corporate partners on co-marketing ventures & campaigns with proceeds benefitting GLSEN, while engaging with employee affinity/resource groups. 

The Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager raises philanthropic support for GLSEN’s priorities & programs by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, & renewing relationships with corporate partners and foundations centered on education, civil rights and/or youth. They are responsible for forming mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships with companies in order to strengthen & increase the organizational ties to these important philanthropic partners. This role will work closely with the Development team on leads that will lead to increased revenue for GLSEN.

At this time, we welcome this to be a remote position that will be part of a seven-person Development team. The role will report to the Associate Director of Development who is based in Los Angeles, CA. 


  • Collaborate with and support Development team on achieving goal of $2.4 million in institutional giving revenue (Corporate + Foundations) and Events goal of $1.4 million.
  • Build relationships with institutional and corporate donors, working closely with the Associate Director of Development, Director of Development and Executive Director
  • Steward current partners, providing regular organizational updates
  • Collaborate with GLSEN program and communications colleagues to identify fundable concepts that support current programs and initiatives, as well as general operations, which are also suited to the interests of potential funders
  • Craft compelling grant narratives that successfully leverage GLSEN assets
  • Conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals, budgets, and reports to institutional sources
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations 
  • Maintain current records in database, including grant tracking and reporting, communications with corporate partners, etc.
  • Collaborate with corporate partners on co-marketing campaigns with proceeds benefiting GLSEN, developing unique activations for each 
  • Review all legal agreements, record pledges, process invoices, & collect receivables in a timely manner
  • Manage colleagues cross-departmentally to ensure deliverables are met
  • Review all co-branded marketing materials & circulate for appropriate approvals
  • Coordinate workshops, webinars, & trainings for partners with GLSEN ambassadors
  • Work directly with GLSEN’s Education and Youth Programs team and students on cause marketing Pride partnerships
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as required


  • Proven track record of securing corporate partnerships and grants above $50,000
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with different personalities and balance internal constituencies
  • Superior communications skills, written and verbal, with the ability to form clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Strong understanding of corporate philanthropy & fundraising events
  • Significant experience in writing effective grant applications/proposals
  • Experience using research resources to identify grant-making prospects and funding opportunities
  • Knowledge of the foundation community and foundation procedures
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to monitor and meet income goals
  • Team player with the ability to take independent initiative
  • Preference for individuals with national institutional funder contacts
  • Experience with Raisers Edge or similar databases


  • An appreciation for the mission & growth aspirations of GLSEN 
  • 3-4 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising setting, preferably with institutional funding
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills; strong budgeting experience 
  • Proven track record stewarding and cultivating funder relationships
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to working through a social and racial justice lens
  • Experience working with non-profit Board members 
  • Familiarity with, and a passion for, LGBTQ issues in K-12 education
  • Willingness to travel occasionally & work some nights/weekends as needed

Expected starting salary range is between $60,000 to $70,000 year depending on qualifications and experience.

This is a remote position. All GLSEN employees are currently working remotely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This position will report to the Associate Director of Development who is based in Los Angeles.
