GLSEN stands with the community in Uvalde, TX

We’re heartbroken and angry about the tragedy in Uvalde. There is no place for violence in schools. We must ensure real safety for our children. All of them, everywhere.

Enough is enough.

The hurt and pain of this moment has deep roots in systemic inequities and we need bold change to both heal and end this violence. Young people, especially BIPOC, trans and non-binary youth, youth with disabilities and LGBTQ+ youth, have endured bullying, intimidation and violence for too long. They have been failed by a system inadequately responsive to their needs for too long. Our children deserve schools and communities where they can learn and thrive.

GLSEN stands with the impacted families, Robb Elementary School community and the city of Uvalde. Our work to live out our mission continues. We won’t stop organizing, advocating and building power with and for students until school communities are safe for our children. All of them, everywhere.
